SaskEnergy to Request Rate Adjustments; Customer Bills to Decrease

SaskEnergy customers could soon be paying less on their monthly natural gas bills after the corporation brings a request for adjustments to its commodity and delivery service rates to the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel (SRRP). On June 29, 2023, SaskEnergy will apply to the SRRP for a 22.1 per cent decrease to the commodity rate, dropping it from $4.20 to $3.30 per gigajoule. SaskEnergy sets another all-time natural gas usage record – the fourth in a week

Daily natural gas consumption in the province has set another new record of 1.50 PetaJoules (PJ) of natural gas. This record, set in the 24-hour period between 9:00 a.m. December 29 th and 9:00 a.m. December 30 th, breaks the previous record set on December 26 th, 2017. These records surpass the 1.33 PJ record from the winter of 2016/2017. SaskEnergy sets new daily gas consumption record twice in one week

Daily natural gas consumption in the province has again surpassed the previous usage record. Daily gas consumption numbers are tracked over a 24-hour period from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. – a new record of 1.59 petajoules (PJ) was set today. The previous record of 1.57 PJ was set early this week on February 9 th. A petajoule is a unit of measurement equivalent to one million gigajoules (GJ) of natural gas – the average home in Saskatchewan consumes about 100 GJ of natural gas annually. SaskEnergy sets new daily natural gas usage record

Extreme cold weather across Saskatchewan this week resulted in record-breaking natural gas demand in the province. On December 28 and 29, natural gas consumption surpassed the previous daily record of 1.57 petajoules (PJ) which was set in February 2021. A new daily record of 1.62 PJ was set on December 28 and broken again on December 29 with total system delivery of 1.64 PJ. SaskEnergy sets new daily natural gas usage record

Extreme cold weather across Saskatchewan this past week resulted in record-breaking natural gas demand in the province. The peak demand was on January 12 with a natural gas consumption rate of 1.70 petajoules per day (PJ/d). SaskEnergy will launch its annual Share the Warmth Grant Program on October 1 to offer small cash grants to grassroots, community initiatives that provide warm shelter, clothing and food for people in need during the winter months. Daily natural gas consumption in the province over the last 24 hours (9:00 a.m. Thursday to 9:00 a.m. today) has tied the previous record set in December 2016 of 1.33 PetaJoules (PJ) of natural gas. SaskEnergy & UNIFOR Ratify Agreement

A tentative agreement between SaskEnergy and UNIFOR was reached on December 13, 2023, and a ratification tour that was held by the union, across the province, over the last couple weeks. “The signing of the collective bargaining agreement at SaskEnergy demonstrates the value of collaboration between unions and the Government of Saskatchewan,” said Dustin Duncan, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy. SaskEnergy has received reports that individuals claiming to be from SaskEnergy are contacting customers, threatening disconnection of their natural gas service unless a bill payment is made within 30 minutes. SaskEnergy is warning of a potential telemarketing scam targeting its residential customers. SaskPower and SaskEnergy apply for rate adjustments

Average $4.30/month increase for homeowners for 2016 SaskPower and SaskEnergy will be applying to the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel (SRRP) in two separate applications to adjust their rates. The simultaneous applications will allow customers the opportunity to budget for utility bills going forward.
